Program and Location:Head Start, Kearney
Position Summary: The Teacher Aide is responsible for providing teacher support in the classroom. The Teacher Aide also provides a safe, pleasant, active learning, and problem-solving environment. The Teacher Aide is responsible to, and under the direct supervision of, the Center Director.
Responsibilities:
- Assume the role of Teacher Assistant during absences.
- Assist in classroom management and lesson planning/implementation.
- Assist in daily classroom activities and provide classroom support.
- Assist in implementation of the curriculum including active learning and practices that are developmentally appropriate.
- Assist in implementation of oral health practices.
- Be actively engaged in all Head Start activities and model appropriate behavior.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in a child care environment is preferred.
Required Skills:
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public and agency employees.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Model appropriate and professional behavior.
Schedule/Hours: 37 hours per week for 52 weeks per year. Approximate hours are 8:00 am – 3:15 pm, Monday-Friday.
Pay Rate The starting rate of pay is $12.88.
Benefits: With benefits, the wage value calculates to approximately $16.49 per hour. Benefits are available during the months the employee is working.
