This position is a member of our Monitoring Division.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a part of the division's Network Operations team, our Air Monitoring Specialist will play a key role in achieving TCEQ's mission. You would use your skills and experience to:
- Perform highly complex technical duties for electronic, electromechanical, and chemical systems used for environmental quality monitoring for the TCEQ.
- Review, validate, and track monitoring data, audits, and day to day activities associated with the operation and maintenance of continuous Air Monitoring stations.
- Review the activities of contractors and operators to ensure compliance with state and federal network objectives. Conduct field inspections to identify and resolve any potential issues and/or provide recommendations.
- Provide technical support associated with the operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Air Monitoring equipment by reviewing and assessing Air Monitoring data, researching equipment issues and resolutions, and conducting field visits. Participate in the review and evaluation of project procedures and guidance materials. Advise and provide feedback to management regarding program activities and/or issues.
- Maintain job proficiency by attending training, offered internally and by outside vendors and agencies, relevant to Air Monitoring and contract management. Provide training and oversight to Air Monitoring personnel, contract operators, and local programs. Complete required competency evaluations for all Air Monitoring equipment.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of ambient monitoring stations and serve as a back-up operator.
- Participate in meetings and discussions with other agency divisions and external customers. Represent the Division in meetings and public functions to provide information and to promote coordination with customers.
