Tax Intern

Position Summary:

The Tax Intern position is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience across all functions of Tax including corporate income, sales & use, property and tax technology. The Tax intern will join a staff of 28 highly energized collaborative professionals and be responsible for preparation of compliance, assist with reconciliations, data collection, tax research, timely responses to notices, system testing and enhancements, process improvements and ad hoc special requests as determined by management.

Major Responsibilities:

• Prepare indirect tax adjustments
• Prepare local tax returns
• Prepare responses to inquiries from jurisdictional taxing authorities
• Assist with preparation of account reconciliations
• Assist with apportionment data collection
• Assist with state tax adjustment workpapers
• Perform research in various tax related subjects, summarize findings and present conclusions and options to management
• Assist with implementing changes to Tax Department processes to standardize procedures between Wayne and Des Moines, increase tax efficiencies, organize SharePoint, and updating department documentation
• Assist with preparation of compliance ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Complete ad hoc assignments as required

Qualifications:

• College Junior or Senior majoring in Accounting or Finance
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Candidate must have strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities concurrently
• Hybrid position – minimum two days per week in the office. More if deemed necessary.

Applicable pay range

$17-$20/Hr
