As a Tax Examiner 1, the focus of your duties will be to interpret and apply tax laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. You will learn to review requests by examining all available tax returns, reports and audit narratives. Work includes correlating names and signatures, processing or denying an RPA request, and learning to determine tax liabilities.
Additional duties will include learning to:
Prepare a case file worksheet by collecting and compiling all applicable documents.
Post sales and employer payments to RPA liabilities.
Receive and initiate telephone contact with taxpayer and other state agencies.
Assist taxpayers with registering and filing of returns and payments via e-TIDES and Tele-file.
Process correspondence received by mail or fax in response to notices received by the taxpayer and taking corrective action to settle accounts.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment.
- Work Hours will be either: 8:30am to 5pm or 9am to 5pm, with an hour or half-hour lunch, Monday - Friday.
- Telework: You may be eligible for the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time after successfully completing in-office training. 1 day a month in the office is required. You must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of general office work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
