Position Overview:
The Tax Director is a pivotal figure within our accounting firm, responsible for the strategic oversight of our tax department. This role involves not only supervising and guiding our dedicated tax staff but also focusing on cultivating and nurturing relationships with a select group of clients to deliver exceptional value to our firm.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Team Development:
Provide strong leadership and mentorship to our tax staff, fostering their professional growth and nurturing a high-performing team.
Set clear goals, objectives, and priorities for the department to ensure efficient tax operations and client service.
2. Client Relationship Management and Growth:
Collaborate closely with a handpicked portfolio of clients, gaining a deep understanding of their needs, objectives, and financial landscapes.
Identify opportunities for expanding the firm's services and driving client relationships towards mutual growth.
3. Strategic Tax Planning:
Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies aligned with both client-specific goals and the firm's overall business strategy.
Analyze client financial data and tax implications to devise plans that maximize value and optimize tax savings.
4. Technical Expertise and Compliance:
Oversee the accuracy and compliance of complex tax returns, financial statements, and other tax-related documents prepared by the tax staff.
Ensure that the tax department maintains a thorough and up-to-date understanding of evolving tax laws and regulations.
5. Effective Communication:
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in general accounting, be experienced in 1031 exchanges, consolidated taxes, Form 5471 and 5472 filings, and be well-versed in multi-state tax compliance. Familiarity with research and development (R&D) tax credits is a plus
Requirements
Must have CPA or Tax firm experience only!
