JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Vice President of Finance & Tax, the incumbent will self-manage and assist with various tax duties, including federal and state tax compliance, ASC 740 tax provision reporting, and financial planning and forecasting. Doyon is seeking an individual who desires the following: An opportunity to be part of the tax and finance department; assisting with the development and execution of a wide range of tasks, including tax strategy and compliance; promoting a "team concept" and thrives working in a team environment; the need for being responsive and servicing subsidiaries, Doyon Limited departments, and stakeholders.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns, quarterly estimates, and extensions, and work with outside consultants to complete tax compliance and planning projects
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual income tax provision (ASC 740) as well as compile related memos and analysis
  • Coordinate and interface with accounting teams, at the parent and subsidiary levels, in data collection for support of tax returns, tax provisions, annual budgets, and financial forecasting
  • Assist with tax notices, inquiries, and audits from federal, state, and local tax authorities
  • Maintain various fixed asset tax books for several Doyon entities
  • Assist in due diligence of new acquisitions
  • Assist in matters of concern to the Finance Committee
  • Develop and produce appropriate monitoring tools and reports to assure and communicate compliance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Track tax and finance reporting due dates, return filings, bank covenant compliance, and tax payments and ensure tax payments/returns are prepared and mailed on a timely basis
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and education
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in tax, finance, or a related area
  • Strong computer proficiency (including Microsoft Excel, Word, BNA Fixed Assets, RIA Checkpoint, and tax return software)
  • Demonstrated ability in compiling and working accurately with large quantities of data
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and financial statements and perform technical research; read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Some travel required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Master's degree in taxation
  • Fixed asset management experience
  • Relevant work experience in a large corporation or public accounting firm (Big 4/National CPA firm is a plus).
  • Multi-state experience and internal tax compliance experience
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting financial data

WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than forty pounds.
