Tasting Room Bartender & Ambassador - Part Time

We are the original craft distillery in Illinois, and we manufacture distilled spirits right here - we make award winning vodkas, gins, rums, whiskeys & more.

Our Tasting Room is a cocktail bar, event center, tourist destination, and retail store all wrapped into one. Our team works together to deliver an amazing experience to each person who visits us, and to share our love of great spirits and cocktails with them. We have an upscale environment, with wonderful customers and a hardworking, friendly team.

We're looking for someone to join our team for 2-3 shifts per a week on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in the afternoons and evenings who can work behind our bar making cocktails.

There are definite opportunities for growth and education here for the right candidate, including building an in-depth knowledge of spirits, distilling and cocktails, and becoming a distillery ambassador at events outside the Tasting Room.

Responsibilities Include:

• Greeting distillery visitors, pouring tasting samples and sharing tasting notes with guests,
• Handling transactions in our point-of-sale system for both cocktail bar customers and retail store customers,
• Making cocktails from our menu, following our specific guidelines and recipes to ensure consistency in our cocktails,
• Answering guest questions, educating guests about our company, the spirits we make, and our cocktails, and guiding guests to spirits and cocktails they will enjoy,
• Collaborating with colleagues and communicating actively with them to ensure high-quality service for guests, and
• Helping maintain the cleanliness of our Tasting Room, and following set up/break down processes daily.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Availability on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and/or Saturdays most weeks for a 4-8 hour shift (starting at 2-3 shifts per week) - must be available on Friday night or Saturday or both
• Excellent people skills and an outgoing nature, and the ability to project a friendly and helpful manner at all times
• At least 1 year of bartending experience in a quality cocktail bar using fresh ingredients, or as a barista at a busy coffee shop
• A strong interest in learning a lot about distilled spirits and cocktails
• Attention to detail for entering orders & ringing transactions correctly in our point-of-sale system, conveying accurate information to guests and colleagues, and making cocktails according to our written recipes
• Able to lift and move 20-25 pound boxes occasionally, and able to stand, walk, lift and bend during your shifts

Pay Rate:

In this role, you would be paid an hourly rate plus a share of the tip pool. Base pay starts at $15-17/hour, based on experience. Tips typically add $8-12 more per hour, sometimes more.

Minimum age: Must be 21+ years old to work with us.

If you do not have one, you will be required to obtain a BASSET certification (for the responsible service of alcohol) before you begin working with us, and a Lake County Food Handlers Certificate within 30 days of your start date.

Pay: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour
