Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Talent Manager (TM) serves as a strategic business partner and member of the Talent Team. Reporting to Chief Talent Officer, the TM will collaborate with the CTO to build a strong and inclusive culture and implement the organization's strategic goals related to talent acquisition, learning and development, performance management, retention, and talent related projects resulting in a great place to work. The TM anticipates ARF's talent needs and designs policies, programs, and systems that support the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) mission, core values, and goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Talent Acquisition

  • Develops and implements best-in-class recruitment strategies that attract and retain top talent and supports an outstanding employer brand.
  • Collaborates with hiring managers to understand skills, competencies, and needs to develop effective recruiting strategies.
  • Researches, stays up to date, and implements DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging) practices in recruiting and provides employee training to advance these goals.
  • Develops strong community relationships to cultivate a diverse pool of high-quality candidates.
  • Ensures recruitment lifecycle efficiency from start to finish, including drafting, posting, and monitoring job openings on multiple platforms, timely communication with applicants, making job offers, closing out jobs, and communicating with applicants on status.

Learning and Development

  • Working with the CTO creates and implements a comprehensive talent development strategy optimizing both best-in-class learning technologies, external resources, and in house talent.
  • Designs and executes an exceptional onboarding experience for new employees, including a program focused on ARF's unique mission and work, and supervisor on-boarding.
  • Oversees the management and evolution of our New Hire Orientation program, including co-leading the weekly delivery with the HR Coordinator.
  • In collaboration with internal partners, leads the coordination and delivery of ARF's monthly Workshop Series.
  • Provides thought leadership to help develop our learning and development strategy.
  • Partners with staff and department heads across ARF to ensure alignment on our learning initiatives and needs.
  • Establishes and manages partnerships with external vendors to augment ARF's internal training programs.
  • Measures, monitors, and evaluates the effectiveness of training programs, and evolves our strategy based on data and feedback.
  • Designs exit interview tool to track reasons and trends for separations and suggestions for improvement.

General Human Resources

  • Working with the CTO, updates the performance management process that includes 30-day employee feedback, 90-day review, and annual review.
  • Works closely with CTO on compensation planning, updates, benchmarking and creating career ladders.
  • Administers leave requests from start to finish; serves as a resource to employees for all HR-related questions while they are on leave.
  • Oversees Workers' Compensation claims; ensure timely claims processing, corresponds with adjusters, insurance representatives, and managers; ensures that accommodations are implemented properly.
  • Leads creation of staff intranet site.
  • Leads the annual update of the team member guide.
  • Documents process changes, such as team manuals, process maps, organizational structure charts, position descriptions, etc.
  • Supports CTO with projects and serves as back-up when needed.
  • Ensures accuracy of HRIS data and provides support to HR Coordinator, as needed.
  • Works closely with the HR Coordinator to streamline processes and serve as back-up when needed.
  • Resolves employee questions and concerns in a timely, respectful, and transparent manner.
  • Strives to create an inclusive and rewarding work environment that allows employees to thrive both professionally and personally.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related degree, or equivalent educational and professional experience required. SHRM Certification highly preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in a combination of HR management and talent development roles with consistently increasing responsibility, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
  • 5+ years of recruiting experience.
  • Combination of for-profit and non-profit Human Resources experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with relevant federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Ability to develop and work well with a diverse staff and community.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus and community, and influence and facilitate decision-making among multiple, diverse parties.
  • Strong virtual and in-person facilitation & presentation skills
  • Ability to project manage multiple programs simultaneously
  • Expertise with concepts, practices, and procedures associated with best practice talent acquisition and learning and development.
  • Excellent strategic, analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Strong interviewing and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated success working with Applicant Tracking Systems (Paycom preferred) and reporting capabilities, Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Zoom.
  • Pre-employment background screening required.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Comfortable working in an environment that includes constant exposure to animals and animal allergens.
  • Push/pull moderately heavy objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Lift and move objects up to 30 pounds for short distances.
  • Kneel, bend, stoop, squat, reach above and below shoulder level, grasp and turn objects, stand, and/or walk frequently and repetitively throughout each shift.
  • Sit for extended periods of time while using a computer.
  • Flex the neck upward and downward; twist the neck and the waist.
  • Attend events as needed, which may require driving an automobile.

HOURS:

  • Full-time exempt position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Minimal hybrid work option possible.
