Cimarron is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to support NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) program in Huntsville, AL. The SLS will be NASA's largest and most powerful rocket to date, taking astronauts back to the Moon and beyond! The selected candidate for this position will conduct the Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) Responsibility, Accountability, Authority (RAA) to integrate with SLS Design, Production, and Test Activities, especially focusing on determining acceptability risk assessment of off-nominal conditions, Material Review Board (MRB) decisions, and test operations and anomalies.
This is a hybrid position that will allow for some remote work (i.e. work from home a few days a week). Key Duties: Follow all tasks in accordance with SLS-RQMT-015 and SLS-RQMT-014.
Participate in the System Safety Working Group and customer meetings as required. Work with Buyer's System Safety organization and deliver high-quality plans, records, and reports in support of the Development, Planning, and Assembly efforts. Produce the following deliverables and complete the following activities: Drawing Review Envelop Drawing Review Supplier Products/Data Review Hazard Identification Hazard Checklist review/update Fault tree analysis development/update Hazardous condition description development Hazard causes identification Safety technical requirements identification Hazard controls/mitigations Hazard verification development Verification tracking log update Hazard data input into NASA database Hazard classification Evaluation of the overall safety risk of hazards Document Acceptance Rational for each hazard commiserate with the maturity level of hazard analysis Review of Non-Conformances for safety impact and document in Hazard Reports Identification of operation controls to be included in the Operational Control Summary of the System Safety Analysis Report (SSAR) in accordance with DRD 1393SA-001 Identification of failure history to be included in the Safety Impact Summary of the SSAR in accordance with DRD 1393SA-001.
Provide System Safety inputs to the SLS Program MRB.Required Skills, Experience, and Education: Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time. 5 or more years of directly related experience.
Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills. Ability to work well independently and within a team environment. Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited course of study.
