Systems Engineer

(Contract for Client)

 

SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a global manufacturing company seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join their facility in Hillsboro, OR. This company offers services and manufactures technology that supports the scientific industry.  This position is a contract with an expected duration of at least a year.

Primary Function:

DualBeam SEM/FIB systems are some of the most sophisticated instruments in the world today.  Systems Design Engineering is at the heart of realizing and pushing the performance of these microscopes.  Our client’s technologies are used by scientists and engineers to drive innovation around the globe. These products have been instrumental in Nobel prize winning discoveries, have been highlighted by National Geographic, and were awarded Gold at the Edison awards.  You will join a growing team committed to collaboration, continuous improvement, and development of you as a person.

 

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

Lead the development of highly customized, automated, multi-million dollar microscope solutions by working closely with, and learning from, world class Marketing, Project Management, Operations, and engineers and scientists of diverse backgrounds.

Requirements management, system design, functional and system decomposition, system analysis, performance modelling and characterization, integration, and validation. 

 

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in in Physics, Mechanical, Systems or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience developing relevant, complex instruments.  Advanced degrees highly desired and may substitute for experience.
  • Strong combination of analytical skills and hands on characterization using statistical methods
  • Demonstrated competency in some of the following areas: metrology, motion systems, machine vision, vacuum systems, high voltage, wafer handling, automation and/or charged particle beam systems.
  • Pass a post-offer background verification.

 

Work Environment:

Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation.  Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.
