JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a System Engineer within the NDI team, you will be part of designs, procurements, configurations, deployments, testing, and troubleshooting of air, land, sea and subsea surveillance and interdiction systems. The position requires the ability to have hands on skills with network racking and stacking; various cabling work for network, power, and connectivity; network and firewall design and configuration; and systems design and integration work with the command-and-control software packages. These systems integrate surveillance technologies such as radars, cameras, AIS, sonars, networking/communications hardware, and operational systems/centers. This job requires both CONUS and OCONUS travel for the installation of these systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems Engineering:
- Develops/Validates system requirements and subsequent design (including networking architectural design) based on customer/program budgets.
- Determine system and subsystem specifications.
- Utilize controlled documentation and government standards, application guides, and industry best practices to support the design and installation process.
- Support acquisition of hardware and software from suppliers/vendors.
- Support and participate in technical activities.
- Design, develop, and analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, and subsystems.
- Document component, system, subsystem operations, ICD's, Interconnect Diagrams, Mean Time Between Failure, and track End of Life.
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.

- Design and develop prototypes to reduce development risk.
- Use of computer aided design/analysis software in performance of assignments.
- Ability to work independently. Provide regular reporting of progress and status.
- Participate in proposal development and cost estimating.
- Support, communicate, and attend engineering, customer, and business meetings when appropriate.
- CONUS/OCONUS travel required (estimated 10% annually).
- Obtain/maintain secret level clearance.
Networking Experience:
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing network devices - routers, switches, gateways, firewalls, LTE/SATCOM, Point-to-Point (PtP).
- Design, implement and maintain complex systems and networks – LAN, WAN, and VPN connections.
- Configuration and management of Layer 3 switches including the underlying network operating system.
- Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Evaluating and testing new technology and conduct testing of network systems.
- Basic systems administration skills required for Windows and Linux.
KEY MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- Build strong relationships with the NDI colleagues, including the President, Program Manager, Project Manager, and peers.
- Build strong internal relationships and provide effective communication with the operational business stakeholders to ensure end user satisfaction – aka great customer service.
- After onboarding and training, successfully lead the design and delivery of an integrated security surveillance solution as the lead Systems Engineer with the rest of the team without having to rely on the help from the current Systems Engineer.

JOB REQUIREMENTS - DESIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Min 2 years of professional system engineering
- Min 2 years of relevant experience directly related to network engineering design.
- Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous workloads effectively, including adapting to changes, planning, organizing, and prioritizing work.
- Performing triage on system problems, resolving the system problems, analyzing system data to prevent problems, and implementing new workstations and system extensions.
- Microsoft 365 Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint Experience.
- Familiar with TCP, and related network protocols.
- Cognizant of network topologies as well as understand necessary configuration.
- Tower climbing certification, or willingness to earn.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or other technical discipline.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be a US Citizen.
Must possess a US Passport and be willing to travel both CONUS and OCONUS.
Must have a clean driving record and have the ability to travel between our offices in WV, VA, and MD as required.
Must possess or be able to achieve a current DoD secret security clearance.
Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
Must be willing to work in an office environment.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA A+ Network Certification.
- Proficiency with various network topographies (data center, LAN, and WAN).
- Working with Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems, setting up RAID configurations.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- MS Project or Smartsheet Project Management Software.
- Systems integration experience with radars, AIS – Automatic ID Systems, EO/IR cameras, sonar systems, and their related command and control software.
- Cybersecurity Experience in Commercial or DoD (NIST/CMMC).
- Firewall experience with Contexts, filters, SSL, and encryption.
- Experience with ACL's, routing, and hardening of managed network switches.
- Experience with CSfC network solutions.
- Experience with cyber incident detection and response.
