Overview of Job Function:
Applying strong development experience, the QA Engineer will make significant contributions to the quality of company software delivered by the development engineers. Working directly with the software development team and the automation test team, the QA Engineer debugs company software by creating quality standards, executing systematic test routines, and tracking all product defect issues to resolution. The QA Engineer will also interface with customer support engineers to assist in resolutions of field problems.
Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain technology expertise, research, and apply state-of-the-art software testing standards, tools, and practices.
- Develop and execute manual software testing and procedures.
- Develop and execute step definitions for Selenium automation.
- Design, develop, and administer usability test scenarios.
- Conduct testing and prepare reports on progress and regression results.
- Analyze test results and present issues to the development team.
- Participate in daily team scrums and reviews of product design and testing. Interact with support teams as required to refine usability requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent field of study or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of three years of software component testing experience.
- Experience testing large, distributed systems.
- Thorough understanding of usability issues.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities and timeframes.
- This is a hybrid work environment and must be located near the Columbia, MD office in order to work in the lab/office to address hardware issues, training, collaboration, and team meetings. Successful completion of a background screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search, OFAC, SS Verification, as well as credit and drug screening, where applicable and in accordance with federal and local regulations.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience detailing and communicating directly with software development teams.
- Experience working with and testing video systems.
- Experience with SQL, C#, Linux OS, and scripting. Experience with Selenium step definitions in Gherkin syntax.
