LOCATION: Salem, OR
Remote work is available for this position.
SALARY:
$7,145 - $10,826/per month Non-PERS Rate
$7,573 - $11,475/per month PERS Rate
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
In the Systems Engineer role, you will spend approximately 50% of your time designing, constructing, and integrating technologies which further mature our datacenter and other IT infrastructure services. This role is oriented towards Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory/Federation Services, Windows Servers & File Systems, M365, and Azure. Other technology areas include hypervisors and backup systems. Activities include working with architect roles to ensure strategic alignment, regularly interfacing with IT Security to ensure risks/vulnerabilities are addressed, and operational handoff to the Service Delivery team is completed. Other duties for this role include routine ITSM functions such as Incident, Change, Problem, and Asset management.

You must be a current employee of the State of Oregon and your application must demonstrate education and/or experience in the following:
(a) Seven (7) years of Information Systems experience in:
Supporting an enterprise-level, hybrid datacenter environment with a focus on Microsoft systems administration, engineering, or architecture*;
OR
(b) An Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
AND
five (5) years of Information Systems experience in:
Supporting an enterprise-level, hybrid datacenter environment with a focus on Microsoft systems administration, engineering, or architecture*;
OR
(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
AND
three (3) years of Information Systems experience in:
Supporting an enterprise-level, hybrid datacenter environment with a focus on Microsoft systems administration, engineering, or architecture*;
OR
(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
AND
one (1) year of Information Systems experience in:
Supporting an enterprise-level, hybrid datacenter environment with a focus on Microsoft systems administration, engineering, or architecture*.
Deploying and managing Microsoft Azure Active Directory domains in a hybrid datacenter configuration
Deploying and managing Windows distributed file systems which leverage cloud technologies
Deploying and managing patch management and backup management systems
Managing and supporting server deployments for disparate functions using multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)
Managing and supporting hypervisors such as VMware or Azure Stack

Ability to engineer a system, document the plan, and present to stakeholders
Proven history working for similarly complex technical operating environments
Proven history of system design/influence and ongoing support/maintenance experience
Highly motivated, self-driven, and an eye towards continuous improvements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to communicate clearly and concisely to engage with a wide and diverse audience.
Understanding and/or experience of implementing zero-trust models
