Lynker is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management. This exceptional individual will support a wide range of technologies and will join a team responsible for maintaining systems used by over 250 internal users and countless public users. This position is based in Charleston, South Carolina and will offer a hybrid work schedule, working in the office in Charleston 2 days per week.
Duties of the Systems Engineer will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform day-to-day activities supporting Microsoft Windows Server
Operating system installs, upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring
Provide technical support of on-premises, cloud, and virtual server environments
Create or update system documentation and standard operating procedures
The ideal candidate will possess the following background:
Team player with a positive attitude and great communication skills; ability to complete work independently and, at times, with minimal supervision
Hands-on experience with Windows Server, managing Active Directory, group policy objects, DNS, DHCP, printer servers, etc.
Experience with patch management tools, such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager
Familiarity with federal government security standards, IT security best practices, and scanning tools
Fundamental knowledge of standard networking
Understanding of change control processes and service desk ticketing systems
Ability to think outside the box to resolve challenging technical issues
Nice to have experience:
Virtual server management (VMware or Hyper-V)
Cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise products
Past experience working with the federal government is a BIG PLUS
