Systems Engineer - Data Center

In this role you will configure, install, support, and assist in the design of the Data Center solutions provided by Cerium Networks for our mid-market and enterprise class clients. Other responsibilities may include troubleshooting and resolving escalated issues across various technologies in a Cerium deployed or supported network. Primary responsibilities focused on post-sales implementation of Data Center solutions designed and sold as well as delivering documentation and administrative training to our clients’ administrators.

This is a remote position for a candidate within Pacific or Mountain Time zone. Preference is given to candidates located in any of Cerium's primary states within the Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, ID, MT).

Key Skills and Responsibilities

• Learn and perform Cerium engineering methodologies and procedures.
• Stay updated on leading datacenter solutions, technologies, and best practices for customer engagements.
• Understand solutions sold and perform discovery of existing environments to execute on services outlined in a Statement of Work.
• Strong skillset in configuring and deploying Data Center solutions (Servers, Storage, Backup, Virtualization, HCI, Cloud). Primary solution portfolio comes from Dell, Cisco, VMware, Druva, and Veeam.
• Perform customer environment assessments and evaluations for value-based feedback of existing infrastructure and configurations.
• Deliver solutions to client requirements and generate additional consulting work by understanding the client's need and showing them how modern technologies can further their business objectives.
• Mentoring junior engineers with various technologies and customer-facing soft skills.
• Participate in daily team standups with Agile methodologies for managing workloads and team collaboration.
• Recent implementation and administration experience of the following (not all are required):
  • Servers: Dell PowerEdge, Cisco UCS, or similar.
  • Storage: Dell PowerStore, Unity (XT), PowerVault, NAS/SAN/iSCSI/FC solutions (NetApp, Pure, Nimble) or similar.
  • Backup: Druva, Veeam, PowerProtect Data Manager, Avamar, Data Domain, other Backup/DR solutions (Rubrik, Cohesity, Zerto), or similar.
  • Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, or similar.
  • Hyperconverged Infrastructure: Dell EMC VxRail, VMware vSAN, Cisco HCI, Azure Stack HCI, Nutanix HCI, or similar.
  • Networking (fundamentals): Cisco Nexus or similar desirable.
• Basic understanding of core major cloud solution providers – Azure, AWS, or similar
• Basic understanding or experience of VDI solutions – VMware Horizon, Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktops, or similar.
• Demonstrated competency with server, storage, backup and restore, disaster recovery, and network fundamentals.

The ideal candidate will be capable of addressing the previously mentioned technologies, speak to them professionally, plan for and implement these solutions, document the finalized deployments, and hand-off to the client in collaboration with the Cerium Team. Teamwork and collaboration with fellow engineers are highly valued in this role to grow and execute success as a team.

• 5+ years of implementation and solution design experience preferred.
• Certifications across Data Center portfolio desirable but not required.
  • VMware VCP preferred.
  • Dell Specialist or Expert certifications preferred.
  • Veeam VMCE/VMCA.
  • Druva Technical Certification.
  • Microsoft Azure Certification(s) (AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-140, or AZ-800/801).
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP.
  • Nutanix NCA or NCP.
• Infrastructure systems troubleshooting experience.
• Experience or familiarity with APIs, scripting, and programmability is a plus.
• Excellent analytical ability and communications skills.
• Interpersonal relationship skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Customer service skills and experience.
• Strong organization and documentation abilities.
• Willing to travel 10-20% of the time depending on client needs.

Compensation

• Base Pay Range: $91,500 to $137,275 (depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc.)
• Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
