Job Summary:

The Systems Design and Integration Engineer is an integral member of the Engine Design and Systems Integration (EDSI) organization. Activities performed within the group include: Integration of technical teams to define functional and mechanical interfaces between Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs), conducting trade studies to define the best system level solutions for the propulsion system, driving of system metrics improvements, defining the System Requirements Document (SRD), identification of technical risks and mitigation plans, resolution of technical issues, defining of Bills of Materials (BOM) for development and production Propulsion Systems, implementing Ultimate Failure Strategies (UFS), conducting gapping and clearance analyses, and documenting verification of Propulsion System requirements.

This Systems Engineering role will support role the Requirements and Risk Managers, and System Design Leaders, and will gain a significant exposure to the various System Design and Design Integration day-to-day activities of a system demonstrator program. Continued development in this role would be expected to lead to a future systems leadership role. This role supports the System Integration Product Team (SIPT) and integrates with the program technical leadership. Integration with the digital modelling team will be critical to meeting customer’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support EDSIT execution of Configuration Review Board process.
  • Manage engine physical and functional interfaces.
  • Document engine compatibility against requirements.
  • Develop & execute technical risk mitigation plans.
  • Leading/supporting SSIPTs & trade studies
  • Work closely with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) modelers to document and maintain technical status to requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 8+ years of relevant industry experience or a Master's degree and 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience working in an Agile or DevOps development environment, being part of a highly integrated team working closely with a variety of different CIPTs and module center teams
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering using SysML and preferably Cameo Systems Modeler.
