Systems Administrator – Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
Remote: US or Canada Based

POSITION SUMMARY: The Systems Administrator (TMS) is responsible for the TMS systems at American Expediting. The successful candidate will become the internal expert for our TMS systems leading the integration and onboarding of customer accounts into the system. The candidate will also be responsible for building a strategy/vision for the TMS systems working with external vendors on their evolution within the transportation industry.
REPORTS TO: Chief Information Officer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Is one of the in-house guru and manager of the American Expediting TMS systems
  • Will have focus on the eCourier system and the Zendesk ticketing platform
  • Preferred experience but can train on the platforms if needed
  • Works with the business on training, familiarity of the systems
  • Responsible for strategy and evolution of the TMS systems and supporting systems
  • Works directly with vendors on system changes and upgrades
  • Attends tradeshows and events to stay knowledgeable on industry trends and technology needs
  • Works closely with the sales and American Expediting customers on their requirements and works with the TMS systems to ensure technology is evolved for future needs
  • Works directly with the integration team to ensure custom
  • Create processes and procedures for customer integration to improve on boarding time in effort to start business as soon as possible
  • Train and mentor team associates on solutions and best practice in support of implementations and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in integration meetings with prospects/clients to determine system requirements and specifications relative to integration mapping and product configuration.
  • Translate client/business requirements into system requirements, technical specifications, and logical data mappings for integration.
  • Assist with analysis of customer or operational requirements and solution design.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in development of system requirements and Concept of Operations.
  • Assist in the development of test plans, data and cycles to ensure that all requirements identified in the requirements gathering phase will be validated.
  • Support User Acceptance Test (UAT) process assuring proper deployment of the solution meeting 4 bottom lines (Scope, Time, Cost & Quality)
  • Provides knowledge, training, and expertise of integration tech internally and externally
  • Monitoring of data transfers and integration to ensure optimal uptime and operational flow
  • First contact for Business, Customers and Partners for all EDI/API related topics
  • Assist with Creating EDI / Web Services mapping specification / descriptions
  • Assist with developing BRD (Business Requirement Document Tool) for clarifying to the customer what the scope is.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Business, Applied Math, Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Education substituted with relevant Years of experience working in the logistics field.
  • Must have 2-5 years of experience in information Technology within warehousing, distribution or supply Chain Operations with thorough Knowledge in Supply Chain Systems and Processes.
  • Experience in Project leadership or application development within small or large company
  • Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and or Freight Management Systems (FMS)
  • Anticipate travel at 25% throughout the US and Canada, with possible increase in needs for travel during project realization
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Preferred experience with eCourier, Dispatch Science, CXT, Xcelerator TMS systems but can train
  • ConnectShip, ProShip Small Parcel
  • Preferred experience with Zendesk but will train
  • SQL/Oracle Database
  • MS Power BI
  • EDI/API technologies (yet to be determined)
  • Microsoft® Office Software (Excel®, Word, PowerPoint®, Visio® and others)
  • Project Management software or project management tools (Confluence® or Wiki , Jira®, Project Plan)
  • Build a vision for the American Expediting network
  • Work with vendors across North America to execute on vision ensuring all branches have strong connectivity and optimal uptime
