Job Description
SUMMARY
Responsible for contributing to prototyping, operation, and maintenance of the U.S. Navy Learning Stack (LS) program. The LS is an Information Technology (IT) portfolio of software applications and productivity tools supporting the Naval Education and Training (NETC) mission, providing capabilities to manage and deliver training to Active Duty and Reserve Sailors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate proficiency in working with specific operating systems and cloud platforms like RHEL, Windows, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or others.
- Possess understanding of cloud database services (e.g., Amazon RDS, Oracle, SQL, and/or Postgres) and their management, including backups, scaling, and performance optimization.
- Possess strong networking knowledge, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, and IP addressing, to design and manage the network infrastructure effectively.
- Communicates with System and DevOps Engineers, Solutions Architects, and Security personnel to fully understand the platform's services, features, and pricing models.
- Support security activities using relevant tools, systems, and applications in support of Risk Management Framework to include: Splunk, App Dynamics, Nessus, ACAS, DISA STIGs, SCAP, Audit Reduction, and HBSS.
- Proficiency in using cloud-specific monitoring and logging tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Monitoring) to ensure system health and performance.
- Hands-on scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) and knowledge of cloud-native automation tools (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions) for automated tasks and processes.
- Support patching of RHEL environments in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Salesforce CRM based development labs, systems test, and production environments.
- Performs integration of RHEL operating systems and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software tools for custom in-house developed products.
- Support deployments using container technologies such as Docker, OpenShift and AWS ECR.
- Performs full integration of DevOps tools that support continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Generates or provides input for new or existing documentation.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline is preferred.
- Seven or more (7+) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education, technical training, and work/military experience required.
- Must possess and maintain a Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
- Must have active DoD Approved 8570 IAT Level II or III certification.
- Must have experience planning, installing, configuring, patching, securing, and troubleshooting issues on RHEL, Windows Server, Azure, and AWS platforms.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve network infrastructure issues quickly and efficiently.
- Experience with fundamental storage concepts: filesystems, backup, cloning, snapshotting, logical volume management, disk encryption.
- Experience in large scale migrations of projects, data, and user from various hosting platforms.
- Experience with containers and deploying in AWS.
- Proficient in determining the appropriate strategy for recoverability and continuity of business operations.
- Must be familiar with source and artifact control, and configuration management.
- Relevant knowledge of current and emerging data center and infrastructure technologies.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Experience using Jenkins, Ansible, or other CI/CD technologies.
- Skills to manage resources efficiently to control costs, including reserved instances, auto-scaling, and cost monitoring.
- Familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible for automating the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
- Understanding of cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and knowledge of security compliance standards.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong computer skills including business solution software.
- Must be analytical and able to problem solve for technical issues.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and be able to work independently with little or no supervision, be exceedingly well organized, flexible.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to perform diverse duties while operating under time constraints.

Job Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE
Full-Time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
TRAVEL
Potential for travel. When required, employee will need to complete an MVR check.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:
Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver's license and be insurable on the company's automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is expected to be remote; however, the company reserves the right to require onsite work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting weights up to 20 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse. Seeing up close, must not be color blind.
