The midpoint for this position is $13.60. We typically offer new hires between the min-mid of the range unless they have higher than average experience for this role.
Principal Activities:
- Be responsible for the growth and development of the Swim Team
- Create a positive learning environment through personal enthusiasm and building team spirit
- Be safety-conscious, maintain order and enforce rules during practices and meets to ensure swimmer safety and respect
- Keep accurate records of attendance and skills and times achieved by each swimmer
- Provide each swimmer with written records of progress and recognition of improvement.
- Attend and participate in coaches meetings
- Coach swimmers at practices and meets
- Ensure effective instruction in competitive techniques and sound, safe physical training
- Communicate effectively with parents about practice, meet schedules, and other details such as uniforms
- Responsible for Swim Team data entry into team and meet manager data system(if only coach)
- Coordinate program evaluation process
- Coordinate parent/volunteer involvement in the program
- Coordinate end of season celebration and awards
- Carries out additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Prior to first shift, to be renewed annually:
- Professional Level CPR
- First Aid
- Automatic External Defibrillator(AED)
- Oxygen Administration
- Must complete the following trainings before working first shift and are to be renewed annually: Blood Borne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention.
- Must complete YMCA of Greater Charlotte New Staff Connection prior to employment
- Obtain YMCA lifeguard certification or YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistant or YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor training within 60 days of hire
- Obtain Principles of YMCA Competitive Swimming and Diving within 6 months of employment
- (If the only coach) Obtain proficiency in Hytek Team Manager and Meet Manager within 90 days of hire or prior to first meet
- Must complete I Create Loyalty Training within 30 days of hire
- Must have basic knowledge of competitive swim techniques and training methods.
- Must present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Must be able to work effectively with swimmers and adult volunteers
