POSITION: Systems Maintainer – Electrician
REPORTS TO: AP Systems Supervisor
LOCATION: New York Stewart International Airport (SWF)
FUNCTIONS:
Perform a wide variety of tasks associated with the repairs and routine maintenance of all Airport systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for completing all assigned tasks with minimal supervision in a professional manner. High Quality and Efficient customer service are of critical importance.
• Provide information relating to the safe and efficient operation of the Airport.
• Competent in the use of a variety of hand and power tools to complete assignments. Must be able to operate and use tools/equipment of the trade in a safe manner.
• Inspect tools and equipment on a regular basis to ensure the safety of self and others.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and tools associated with assigned task.
• Assist other work departments when necessary to ensure timely completion of work projects.
• May perform a wide variety of other tasks that are necessary to maintain Airport systems.
• May be required to work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather, frequently at heights including poles and other structures. Exposed to hazards of trades including underground and overhead distribution systems of high voltage.
• May be required to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and replace, when necessary, a wide variety of complex electrical equipment and systems.
• May be required to use all types of electrical and electronic testing equipment to analyze systems and circuits for troubleshooting and correct malfunctions.
• Repairs and services various airport electrical systems, including REIL, PAPI lights; rotating beacon; runway and taxiway lighting; signage; building electrical systems; low and high voltage power distribution in building and airfield; constant current regulators.

• Perform routine maintenance and repair of all types of utility systems.
• May be required to work rotating shifts and/or overtime.
• Part of Snow Removal Team. Assist in snow removal, ice control, and sanding/salting, as required to ensure safe operation of the Airport.
• Ability to perform as an Electrician in installation, alteration and maintenance work of a broad scope. Must be familiar with the work practices set forth in applicable codes, rules of safety and practices governing electrical and high-tension work.
• Perform all other Airport related duties as required.
• Assist Supervisor in estimating materials and man-hours on maintenance projects when required.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of materials/parts used and remaining in stock. Provide this information to the supervisor daily or whenever required.
• Must follow all Airport, Company, and FAA security regulations.
• Responsible for keeping all tools, equipment and materials secured and stored in a safe manner when not in use.
• Must follow all Airport, Company, and OSHA safety regulations, including, but not exclusive too, Ladder/Scaffold safety, Fall Protection safety, Confined Space Entry safety and Lockout/Tagout safety.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A general knowledge of maintenance work is required. Prior use of hand and power tools very helpful. Must have, or be able to qualify for, a New York State Motor Vehicle Class B driver’s license as a condition of employment. For areas that require more specific skills, a graduate from a 4-year High School or Vocational School with a minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience is also required.
