The Senior Vice President, Chief of Staff for Cyber Security Group will coordinate and execute a range of strategic and operational initiatives and serve as a strategic advisor and key partner to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), providing leverage, leading cross-functional initiatives, managing the execution of key cybersecurity programs, and driving operational efficiency within the cybersecurity team.  The Chief of Staff, Cyber Security Group, is a crucial role that requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, resourcefulness, analytical/financial skills, strong project and stakeholder management abilities, excellent presentation and communication skills, emotional intelligence, ability to deliver operational efficiency, team leadership skills, and a high degree of personal and professional integrity.

Responsibilities: style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif">

  1. Strategic Planning: The Chief of Staff will work closely with the CISO to develop and implement the organization’s cybersecurity strategy, aligning with broader business objectives. This will involve understanding the evolving cybersecurity landscape, assessing potential threats and vulnerabilities, and determining the most effective methods to mitigate risk.
  2. Program Management: The Chief of Staff will oversee the execution of key cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This will include coordinating with various stakeholders, tracking progress, and resolving any issues that arise.  Accepts and understands the variability in the time commitment required for successful execution of the role and the large variety of opportunities and challenges inherent in supporting and advancing the CISO’s agenda.
  3. Operational Efficiency: The Chief of Staff will be responsible for improving the operational efficiency of the cybersecurity team. This may involve streamlining processes, enhancing communication, providing operating metrics and key results, and implementing new tools or technologies. 
  4. Stakeholder Engagement: The Chief of Staff will act as a liaison between the cybersecurity team and other functions within the organization, including technology, legal, HR, and other business units. This will require strong communication skills, the ability to translate complex cybersecurity issues into understandable terms, and the capacity to influence and drive consensus.
  5. Team Development: The Chief of Staff will support the development of the cybersecurity team, identifying skill gaps, facilitating training, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  6. Special Projects: Leads special projects as assigned by CISO typically on confidential and time sensitive matters or that require quick turnaround.  Executes with minimal direction and assistance.  May also lead, coordinate or participate in special projects initiated by other teams in support of Moody’s and the CAO’s strategic priorities.
  7. Business Planning: The Chief of Staff will also facilitate the CISO’s annual strategy and budget planning in partnership with senior leaders, business partners, people team partners and the financial planning and analysis team, including resourcing for the cybersecurity team and managing routine budget requests.

Qualifications: style="font-family:"calibri",sans-serif">

  1. The candidate should have a proven track record in cybersecurity, with experience in strategic planning, program management, and team leadership. Familiarity with the latest cybersecurity standards, frameworks, and regulations is essential.
  2. 10-15 years of experience in progressively more senior and complex roles involving some combination of the following: strategy, financial analysis and/or project management.
  3. A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC would be advantageous.
  4. The candidate should possess strong analytical, financial, critical thinking, strategic problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work through complexity.
  5. Excellent executive style communication skills (verbal, written, visual) and interpersonal skills are also vital, as is the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Organizational agility and strong negotiation skills; excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  7. The candidate should be a strategic thinker with a high degree of integrity and professionalism. They should also be adaptable, resilient, and able to thrive in a complex, evolving landscape.
  8. Speak and communicate convincingly in front of senior management and larger audiences.
  9. Ability to set priorities, be proactive, exercise initiative and assume responsibility for work and work product.
  10. Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, inclusion and trust; demonstrated ability to work with confidential material.

 

 

 

 

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $192,500- $279,200, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
