GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The intern will be responsible for collecting data and reporting findings to the Sustainability Manager. 
The intern will establish procedures and monitor outgoing transaction weights of items by 
classification. A case study location will be refined until the process is proven valid and then the intern 
will transfer this knowledge to other locations in the GIA network. The intern will gain on-the-ground
experience designing, implementing an experimental protocol, collecting, analyzing, and reporting data 
in business sustainability-related projects. The intern will also be given introductory training on GIA 
functions and taught the EOS-mirrored system used throughout the organization to streamline 
communication and develop professional skills. Furthermore, the intern will present portions of the 
research at GIA and GII meetings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensure proper execution of functional and administrative tasks as assigned. This duty is performed 
about 30% of the time.
2. Support the designated manager and the team in data collection and reporting tasks. This duty is 
performed about 20% of the time.
3. Will interact fluently with customers and coworkers handling an array of activities including but not 
limited to analyzing programs, generating reports, answering phones, scheduling, filing, scanning, 
mailing, and much more. This duty is performed about 20% of the time.
4. Will assist sustainability development staff with tracking donor and customer weights, monitoring 
and reporting project progress, executing project work plans, and coordinating the design, production, 
and writing of research findings. This position also requires the ability to complete substantial amounts 
of research. This duty is performed about 20% of the time.
5. Assist in the production and preparation of press releases, newsletters, marketing brochures, direct 
mail, email and social media. This duty is performed about 10% of the time.
6. Respond to and serve Goodwill staff and customers in a positive and energetic manner (See ACE).
7. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned 
satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability 
required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. 
Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school 
specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 0 to 6 months related experience and/or 
training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and 
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small 
group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization. ability 
to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; 
ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. ability to write reports, business 
correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond 
to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common 
fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar 
graphs.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only 
limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or 
diagram formats.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Arkansas Driver's License
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Candidate must be competent in study design or similar degree and exercise a strong understanding 
of experimental design, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and will work closely with 
Sustainability manager to ensure study objectives are met.
SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Intermediate: Contact Management, Presentation/PowerPoint, Spreadsheet
Basic: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Database, Word Processing/Typing
