Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sushi Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience preparing sushi and nigiri, and must possess excellent communication skills to engage with customers and create memorable dining experiences. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting sushi dishes in accordance with our high-quality standards. Experience:
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Sushi Chef with experience in all sushi preparations including sushi, sashimi and maki.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices
- Excellent knife skills and ability to handle raw fish safely
- Must have ability to converse with customers, listen to and facilitate requests from customers
- Must have superior knife skills, creating exciting visual presentations for their food that are neat and clean with an eye for artistic balance.
- Knowledge of all sushi related products and menu development.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule on your feet and work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Creativity in creating visually appealing sushi presentations
- The desire to interact with guests in a professional and courteous manner in our open kitchen.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of signature dishes with high quality with acute attention to detail in the food preparation process, mastering quality and portion control, and plate presentation in a consistent fashion
- Multi-task well
- Engage with guests and anticipate their needs
- Manage inventory levels for food ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
- Ensure food safety procedures are executed according to policy and health/sanitation regulations
