Join us in helping to keep our City thriving, ensuring upward mobility and advancement in the workplace. Function This position works with a Party Chief as a member of a Survey Party.

Summary Will operate various survey equipment, including Robotic Total Station, GPS, data collection devices, automatic levels, to accurately locate geographical features, property boundaries, and other features along a proposes Water or Sewer route. Will also be responsible for keeping truck stocked with supplies and ensuring that power supplies are charged each night. This position also uses brush axes, shovels, signage, and other hand tools needed to facilitate a Survey.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Verifies truck is loaded and equipped for each day. Opens and measures depth on Manholes. Puts out "Survey Crew" signage.

Clears debris for clear lines of sight. Finds and uncovers property corners. Places hubs and mag nails as needed, and paints pertinent information.

Ensures all equipment is accounted for and loaded before leaving jobsite. Return all equipment to storeroom at end of day, making sure to put all electronics on charge. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic math skills.

Basic Computer skills. Skill in communicating both written and orally. Ability to understand and follow instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the public. Ability to work as a team member. Ability to drive and work safely.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is primarily outside and in both very hot and very cold temperatures. This job requires ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Walking relatively long distances is required.

Pulling MH covers is required, as is digging up buried objects, and using tools to cut brush. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED from an accredited school. Three (3) years of related work experience Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: Requires a valid driver's license.

Conditions of Employment The City's Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
