Salary Range: $42,434.91- $70,690.46

The Survey Party Chief reports to the Survey Manager. The Survey Party Chief conducts field work which includes boundary surveying, topographic surveying, As-Built surveys, and be able to identify and differentiate between common underground utilities. Ability to interpret and understand legal descriptions, plans and maps that are used on a daily basis. Ability to use and be familiar with a current surveying equipment used on a daily basis. This includes G.P.S. R.T.K. Equipment. Being able to work in different groups when needed. Have the ability to train and supervises other skilled personnel in all phases of land surveying. This position possesses strong organizational, time management and supervisory abilities, including the ability to make independent field decisions. The Survey Party Chief establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships at all organizational levels and with the public. Under general supervision, this position exercises leadership over complex projects and trains other skilled associates when needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.

• Work under the direction of a Professional Land Survey or to complete surveys for the Department of Watershed Management and other City of Atlanta departments.
• Aids the Office of Engineering Project Managers and Project Engineers on survey related projects as needed.
• Supervise horizontal and vertical control surveys for the Department of Watershed Management and other City of Atlanta departments.
• Supervise and lead survey field crew members in carrying out daily operations, collect data that is pertinent to the job for the completion of survey drawings and plats, including right of way, easement, and property surveys.
• Read, interpret metes and bounds descriptions, and prepare field notes, project sketches and photographs.
• Measure Inverts on Storm Water and Sanitary Sewer Manholes. Make sketches in field books when applicable. Work location includes creeks and heavily wooded areas.
