We are looking for a dedicated Junior Land Surveyor to grow with our collaborative team and work on a variety of land development projects.
- Perform field surveying tasks under the direction of a Party Chief.
- Operate and adjust surveying instruments including GPS, total stations, and levels.
- Produce quality raw field data with clear and concise field notes with attention to detail.
- Work outdoors in variable weather and environmental conditions.
- Perform some office duties including data download, field notes, keeping good receipt records for expense reports, mileage logs, and daily safety logs.
- Follow Jacobs’s safety protocols.
- Preserve and enhance the Jacobs brand through knowledge and experience, presenting yourself as a professional at all times.
This is a field position that has the following physical demands over a 10-hour period daily when working onsite.
- Requires physical exertion in various conditions of climate and hilly and hard asphalt/concrete terrain.
- Requires long periods of standing, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.
- Requires recurring lifting of moderately heavy items (~50 lbs.) such as surveying equipment and related surveying field items.
- Requires general physical and mental characteristics and abilities leading to above-average agility and dexterity, adaptability, to different field conditions, knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- High School diploma
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass drug screening and background checks
- Out of town will be required (approximately 50%)
- Dependable, reliable and self-motivated to show up for work at a given designated start time
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Experience in Leica and Trimble surveying equipment
- An understanding of GDOT coding list
- UAV operation and remote pilot license
- Experience in locating and marking underground utilities
- Experience in routing surveys, railroad, topographic mapping, laser scanning, or other infrastructure surveys
- Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT)
