Metro Consulting Associates, LLC., (?MCA?) is looking for a Land Survey Crew Chief to join our team! MCA is a multifaceted energy, land, and community development engineering and surveying firm serving public and private sector clients throughout the Midwest. The Land Survey Crew Chief/Party Chief is responsible for translating project objectives between the office and the field and directing all duties of field survey members assigned to them while performing calculations and appropriate field activities such as construction staking, boundary, ALTA, Right of Way mapping, Aerial and/or topographic surveys and any duties asked of them.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain care of all surveying and data collection instruments.
- Record the results of surveying and verify the accuracy of data with proper field checks recorded.
- Transmit survey data to the proper files in the computer network, which includes sending data to the office from remote locations on a daily basis and be able to acquire the data for field use when necessary.
- Prepare legible written field notes and daily records and maintain cut sheets for staking projects.
- Assist in training of staff on field methods and instrument use and care.
- Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
- Lead Survey Crew by providing direction and leadership by demonstrating an attitude for safety, cost control, efficiency, and professionalism.
- Maintain exceptional internal and external client relations.
- Achieve performance objectives and financial metrics (see Key Performance Indicator document).
- Duties as assigned by Project Manager.
Qualifications
- High School diploma and/or equivalent combination of education & experience.
- Minimum five (5) years applicable experience.
- SIT or PS preferred.
- Required to have satisfactory results on a Motor Vehicle Record check and maintain a valid driver?s license.
- Proficient with field survey instruments, principles of survey measurement, staking, and marking.
- Excellent concentration, proofreading, and strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Strong planning, organization, preparation, problem solving, and execution capabilities.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Primarily work outdoors,must be able to work in extreme heat and cold.
- Regularly required to walk for long distances.
- Be willing to travel up to 100% in both urban and remote areas.
- Frequently lifts or moves objects up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation ranges between $30.00 to $36.00 per hour, depending on experience.
