We are currently looking for an experienced and energetic Survey and Research Analyst to join our Joyce University team. This role is available as a fully remote position. The Survey and Research Analyst (SRA) leads the development, creation, deployment, analysis, and maintenance of Qualtrics surveys, reports, and visualizations. The SRA assists with analysis and summarization of complex and sometimes sensitive issues with university-wide impact in creative and innovative ways (e.g., information dashboards, interactive data visualizations, metric-rich reports, and use of AI). The SRA contributes to the visibility of the Office through participation in, and support of, internal research efforts. The SRA assists with preparing and submitting state and federal report requests as needed. The SRA may need to operate with significant independence, often identifying self-training and tools to best support the university and the work of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.

WHAT YOU DO EVERYDAY:

  • Develop high-quality surveys in Qualtrics based on content provided by the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, Director of Institutional Research, or other survey project owners.
  • Deploy surveys using a variety of methodologies supported by Qualtrics (e.g., distribution list, LTI, anonymous link).
  • Monitor survey completion in Qualtrics and deploy follow-up communications with respondents and survey stakeholders.
  • Extract survey completion data, clean and manipulate the data, and prepare/distribute reports per individual survey requirement, including interpretation of findings, discernment of implications, and development of conclusions.
  • Create clear accurate, and compelling visual depictions of data from a variety of internal and external data sources (e.g., SIS, LMS, College Navigator) using DOMO, Excel, or other visualization tools.
  • Apply advanced database utilization skills (e.g., querying, extraction, manipulation) across a variety of institutional databases to produce data and complete external reports as requested by AVP of Institutional Effectiveness and others.
  • Run descriptive statistics using appropriate software tools (e.g., Excel, R, Qualtrics tools, etc.).
  • Apply advanced inferential statistics to identify and understand complex relationships between variables.
  • Work in conjunction with other members of the OIE team to develop and provide data literacy-related professional development opportunities to internal faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrate awareness of current trends and directions within the scope of assigned job duties, including use of AI to advance institutional effectiveness efforts.
  • Contribute to efforts to understand and apply AI models that could increase efficiencies within existing teams and programs, enhance instruction, and improve the student learning experience.
  • Update and maintain internal OIE SharePoint site with input from AVP of Institutional Effectiveness and other OIE team members.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and present data clearly to a variety of audiences.
  • Attend and actively participate in university functions and meetings, including but not limited to: internal professional development opportunities (e.g., A.S.K. and T.A.L.K. sessions), town hall meetings, in-service training, committees, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree or higher in social/data sciences or related area required.
  • Technical experience working higher education data analytics AND RESEARCH.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social science research, and experience with analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, reporting and interpreting findings, discerning implications, and drawing conclusions.
  • Training and experience in descriptive and inferential statistics.
  • Experience and/or training with the administration of online survey tools (Watermark and Qualtrics preferred).
  • Experience implementing LTI with Canvas.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience and/or training in survey design.
  • Specialized training in statistical, visualization, and/or data management software applications and tools (e.g., advanced Excel, SQL, Python, R) and business intelligence tools (Power BI and DOMO preferred).
  • Experience with online learning management systems (Canvas preferred), particularly retrieval of analytic reports.
  • Experience pulling data from Student Information Systems (Campus Nexus preferred).
  • Experience participating in the IRB review process and IRB analytics (preferred).
  • Experience, interest, and ability related to advancing Artificial Intelligence in education (higher education setting preferred).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Fluency with commonly utilized Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Familiarity with agile scrum process.
  • Previous data governance experience and participation preferred.
  • Successful experiences working across teams and departments to achieve common goals.
