Job description

The Surrogates Manager will support the Director  by aligning priorities, creating, implementing, and managing processes to ensure high functionality of the team and optimize work outputs. The Manager will help the Special Projects team, the Coalitions Department and greater Political & Organizing Department develop and manage surrogates request process for the Democratic National Committee and any relevant partner organizations. This role will communicate, organize and work across departments on program deliverables.

Responsibilities:
    • Work closely with the Director, Deputy, and team leadership on all special projects surrogate needs;
    • Assist the Director with reports, requests and surrogate process management for DNC leadership and planned VIP events;
    • Assist the Special Project team with drafting memorandums, reports, and other materials as needed for the White House, surrogates and other principles;
    • Assist the Director and Deputy in conducting notifications to stakeholders on White House travel;
    • Serve as a central point of political, coalitions, and special project events including drafting and submitting memos;
    • Manage team member travel portfolios, securing flights and hotel accommodations;
    • Manage cross-department and cross-team projects;
    • Manage short and long-term goal-setting, accountability, and reporting out;
    • Serve as a strategic advisor and counsel to Director and Deputy Director; Assume day-to-day responsibility for all surrogate related  projects and tasks;
    • Create and maintain cross-departmental relationships to enable leadership success;
    • Create systems and processes to streamline operations and maximize outputs;
    • Ensure information is being shared externally regarding accomplishments, etc.
    • Help set team culture, foster collaboration, and provide opportunities for professional development and training; and,
    • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.
Qualifications:
    • At least 5-7 years experience working in political committees, campaigns, or non-profit organizations;
    • A keen political sense and diplomatic approach to solving problems;
    • Strong communication skills, particularly in communicating with organizational leadership;
    • The ability to work quickly and efficiently to manage projects to completion;
    • Strong attention to detail in all areas of work;
    • A strong interest in learning the management and organizational aspects of a well-run team.

The Surrogates Manager position will require travel, which could be up to 30% of the time.

The starting salary for the Surrogates Mannager position is $51,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for overtime wages and is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU local-500 and has an end date of November 15, 2024.
