JOB SUMMARY:
Under supervision of the Circulating Nurse, the Surgical Technologist prepares for scheduled procedures and arranges sterile set up of instrument tables according to established protocol. Assists surgeons by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors and anticipating surgeons’ needs during course of procedure. Cleans operating room and stores equipment and supplies.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education and Work Experience:
Work requires knowledge of general policies and procedures followed in the Operating Room. Typically acquired through approximately one year of on the job experience necessary in order to acquire necessary familiarity with surgeon preferences, be able to accurately identify large volumes of surgical instruments and supplies, and gain knowledge of unit policies and procedures.
License/Registration/Certification:
