The Preadmissions staff will obtain patient medical history for the Ambulatory Surgery Center. This position serves many different functions. The primary areas of responsibility are:
- Patient Admission
- Surgery Scheduling
- Telephone Communication
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with two years of work experience. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills are required. Basic office skills are necessary. Knowledge of surgical procedures is desirable. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.
Physical guidelines include the ability to extend wrist/arms for up to eight hours per day; sit for up to eight hours per day; work at a computer terminal for up to eight hours per day.
INFECTION CONTROL CATEGORY:
This job is designated as a Category II job using OSHA definitions. This means there is no anticipated exposure to blood or potentially infectious materials.
HIPPA RESPONSIBILITIES:
Uses and discloses Protected Health Information (PHI) according to the facility’s policies and procedures.
JOB CHARACTERISTICS:
- Work with all members of the health care team in the Surgery Center to provide optimal care to the patient, throughout their surgical experience.
