Job Title: Surgical tech CVOR
Job Location: Gastonia, NC

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Open Heart Surgical Tech to join our team in Cape Girardeau, MO. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in open heart surgery and be able to work 8 hour shifts with rotating call, including weekends and holidays.
As a CVOR/Open Heart Surgical Tech, you will be responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgeon, and ensuring quality patient care during the operative procedure. You will work under the direct supervision of the surgeon and circulating nurse and follow the overall direction of the Assistant Managers, OR Manager, Director of Surgical Services, and Vice President of Patient Care Services.
Duties:
Demonstrates the ability to anticipate the needs of the Cardiothoracic Surgeons.
Practices within the Scope of Practice for a Surgical Technician.
Demonstrates the ability to pull cases and ensure that all supplies are available for Cardiothoracic cases.
Maintains all applicable licensure.
Picks supplies and instrumentation for surgical procedures.
Participates in maintenance of preference cards.
Assists RN with room preparation.
Maintains and promotes a clean environment and uses infection control practices
Participates in sterilization and disinfection processes
Assists in cleaning between cases
Sets up and maintains sterile field
Selects and sets up appropriate instrumentation for cases and cares for specialty instrumentation
Maintains accurate count of sponges, sharps, and instruments
Follows preference cards to select routine supplies, equipment and instruments
Assists with draping and positioning of patients
Passes appropriate instruments and supplies to surgeon and assistant
Handles, labels, and passes medications to surgeon under the supervision of the RN
Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Completion of a Surgical Technologist course (strongly preferred)
CPR Certification
MO License
Prior open heart surgery experience
Note: This is a contract position and a 75 mile radius restriction is enforced. The right candidate may be considered for 10-hour shifts. Covid-19 care is likely, and the candidate must be fully vaccinated.
