Surgery Scheduler:
- Education and Experience Requirements:
- 1-3 years recent experience scheduling surgical procedures in a clinic/hospital or out-patient surgery center required.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- Superior communication skills (verbal and written) & organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities & facilitate efficient patient/workflow within the clinic.
- Experience with Eclinical EMR a plus!
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology & medical clinic flow strongly preferred.
- Bilingual a plus
Schedules all surgical procedures and assures that all the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery schedule. Scheduler receives requests to schedule procedures from the physician and schedules the procedure according to established guidelines.
- Maintain surgical scheduling system.
- Schedule patients for surgical procedures.
- Complete patient paperwork for scheduling.
- Verify physician orders for appointments.
- Verify benefits according to CPT and authorize procedures.
- Manage medical records and patient information within HIPPA guidelines.
- Obtains Referrals and Authorizations – Submit necessary requests for referrals and authorizations for all medical services. Not limited to Surgery.
- Manage patient pre-op responsibilities and generate all necessary paperwork.
- Handle communications with patients and surgical facilities.
- Coordinate days and times with surgical facilities, patients and provider schedules.
Essential Functions:
- Schedule patient surgeries.
- Coordinate with other specialty groups to schedule complex surgical cases.
- Utilize strong communication, problem solving skills and attention to detail to maximize physician schedule for efficiency.
- Provide follow-up to patient inquiries, contacting provider as necessary.
- Obtain authorization requirements per insurance guidelines.
- Coordinate the transmission and acquisition of patient records.

Billing Department Assistant:
Duties You Will Learn to Do:
- Develop self-pay arrangements and set up payment plans.
- Enter charges accurately and expeditiously to ensure proper records handling and fast payment responses.
- Initiate private pay collections after insurance cancellation, denial or other issues.
- Process and follow up on payer denials, consulting with the patient and/or his or her family as needed.
- Post payments in a timely manner
- Research and resolve client billing problems or issues.
