Position Overview:
The United States Probation Office for the Middle District of Florida is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Support Specialist in our Fort Myers, Florida office. This position will perform a variety of administrative and clerical duties such as filing, copying, distributing mail, and inputting data. Geographically, our district covers thirty-five counties from the Georgia border on the northeast to south of Naples on Florida’s southwest coast.

Representative Duties:
Performs frontline customer service and other administrative duties as assigned. Answers phone calls, greets visitors, and processes incoming and outgoing mail. Receives, scans, and uploads incoming documents into client's electronic case files and automated case management database.
Creates, updates, and organizes case files; both electronically and paper form. Initiates and enters statistical information in the agency's automated case management system. Audits paper case files before closing to ensure that all necessary documents have been scanned and entered in the client's electronic case file.
Formats, proofreads and edits reports, petitions, letters, memorandums and other documents prepared by the probation officer. Drafts routine correspondence. Processes documents to the Court, Bureau of Prisons, Sentencing Commission, and other agencies. Assists in assigning new investigations.
Assists with asset inventory, using both manual and automated inventory tracking tools. Purchases office supplies. Receives purchased supplies and checks deliveries against packaging slips.
Performs other related duties as required.
Education & Experience:
To qualify for the entry level, a person must be a high school graduate or equivalent and have at least two years of clerical, office administrative, or other work experience, which provided knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
Experience with database systems and proficiency in the use of automated equipment and software applications.

Conditions of Employment:
The selectee will be subject to a background investigation to include an FBI fingerprint check.
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident seeking citizenship.
Work is performed in an office setting, where persons with violent backgrounds are usually present.
