Position Description
Salary Information:
The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement. All new employees will be hired at the minimum salary in the range and will be eligible for merit increases until reaching the maximum salary in the range.

Definition
Incumbents perform warehousing duties to include: technical, clerical, and manual tasks for the receipt, storage, issuing, shipment, inventory and record keeping of police equipment, firearms, uniforms, materials, services, and supplies for the Department
Minimum Qualifications/Position-Specific Conditions
Training, Education and Experience
  • Two years of warehouse experience to include: receiving, order fulfillment, stocking merchandise, physical inventory control and customer service.
  • Possession of High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Nevada driver license.
  • Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument.
  • Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument.

Best Candidates Will Have
  • More than two years of full-time warehouse experience to include: receiving, order fulfillment, stocking merchandise, physical inventory control and customer service.
  • Experience with unloading trucks, receiving in merchandise, issuing merchandise, physical inventory control, and data entry in an inventory program such as SAP.
  • Experience with forklift, manual and electric pallet jacks.
  • Ability to interact with customers and provide excellent service with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Conditions of Employment
In addition to the General Conditions of Employment, found , the following specific conditions of employment and physical conditions apply to this position.
  1. Personal Appearance: While on duty, and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all Department employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public. Employees are prohibited from attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles or jewelry on or through the nose, tongue, eyebrow or other exposed body part, except the ears for females, while on duty. Employees are prohibited from stretching or "gauging" their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing. Markings that cannot be covered by clothing will be covered using makeup, neutral-toned bandages, or patches. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited.
  2. Participate in the LVMPD Mental Wellness Program.
  3. Clark County Detention Center Assignment Conditions: If assigned to the Clark County Detention Center, undergo within 14 days after being newly transferred to the facility, an annual tuberculosis testing / screening per NRS, and every 12 months thereafter.
  4. Maintain an appropriate, valid driver license.
  5. Are subject to call-back requirements and, if necessary, work shifts, adjusted shifts, overtime, and days appropriately determined by seniority, contract provisions, and Department Policy.
  6. Vision sufficient for reading fine prints on computer and in requisition and related documents, as well as performing inspection of inventory and shipments.
  7. Hearing sufficient to hear conversations and directions in person and over the telephone.
  8. Agility sufficient to stand, walk, stoop, bend, crawl, reach, rotate and extend neck, and balance self while preparing to load and unload items with or without the aid of tools and equipment.
  9. Mobility sufficient to climb ladders, operate a mail van and delivery truck, as well as work in the office and warehouse.
  10. Strength sufficient to lift and move moderately heavy supplies, material, and furniture items with or without the aid of equipment.
  11. Endurance sufficient to stand for long periods of time, as necessary.
  12. Office and warehouse environment; exposure to noise, smell, dust and computer screens; exposure to wide fluctuations in temperature and humidity working indoor and outdoor.

Exam #2: Oral Board (Weighted 75%) - Beginning Tuesday, February 13, 2024 (Top Scoring Candidates)

**Due to security reasons, personal belongings permitted in the testing facility will be limited. Items such as large backpacks, briefcases, duffle bags or similar items may not be allowed. Those items permitted will be left to the discretion of the LVMPD employees administering the examination and may be subject to a search.

Additional Selection Processes
If you successfully complete the above selection process, you will undergo a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph exam. A polygraph examination can be stressful and may affect existing medical or psychological conditions or ongoing treatment. LAS VEGAS METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT
CIVILIAN EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
Benefits are effective July 1, 2023, are based
upon an 80 hour pay period in a paid status, and are subject to change.
COMPENSATION
ASSIGNMENT DIFFERENTIAL: Specific assignments may qualify for assignment differential pay.
EDUCATION INCENTIVE: Civilian employees possessing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master Degree from an accredited college or university will receive a designated amount per pay period based on degree.
OVERTIME PAY / COMPENSATORY TIME: Employees who work overtime have the option of being paid at 1-1/2 times their hourly rate or receiving 1-1/2 hours of compensatory time. Compensatory time may not accumulate beyond 60 hours.
SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL: Employees will receive an additional 4% shift pay for working a swing shift or a graveyard shift. After completing initial probation, employees working a graveyard shift encompassing the hours of midnight to 5:00 a.m. will receive an additional 2% shift pay.
LANGUAGE PAY: Qualified employees may receive Language Pay each pay period.
UNIFORMS: The Department furnishes, maintains, and cleans all uniforms for those personnel required to wear uniforms, with the exception of footgear.
TAXES:
State/City - Nevada has no state tax or city income tax.
Social Security - Employees enrolled in PERS pay no social security.
Medicare - Medicare is deducted at the rate of 1.45%.
WORKING HOURS: Employees work 80 hours bi-weekly. Depending upon the area of assignment, employees work an 8-hour, a 9-hour, a 10-hour, or a 12-hour shift per day.
LEAVE AND HOLIDAYS
ANNUAL VACATION LEAVE: Employees begin accruing vacation leave immediately at the following rates:
  • 1 - 14 years of service:4.62 hours per pay period (3 weeks per year)
  • 15 - 19 years of service:6.15 hours per pay period (4 weeks per year)
  • 20 + years of service:7.68 hours per pay period (5 weeks per year)

Vacation leave may be used after 6 months of continuous service.
On December 31st of each year, employees may carry over a portion of accrued leave, based upon their years of service.
Employees separating from the Department are eligible to cash out all accrued vacation if they have completed six months of continuous service.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Employees may take bereavement leave for members of their immediate family. This leave can be deducted from any available accrued leave.
BONUS LEAVE: If an employee uses the equivalent of 3 days or less of sick leave, (including Family Leave), within an employment year, (the year beginning with the date of hire), s/he will receive 3 shifts of bonus leave.
