Job Description

Position Summary:

The Demand Planning Director is a leadership position that will collaborate with numerous cross-functional stakeholders to build and deliver a consensus demand plan that considers seasonality, promotional activities, and product transition plans, while balancing our financial targets.

This role is responsible for developing new forecasting tools and scalable processes to simplify growing business complexities, improve forecast accuracy, and drive long term sales strategies.

The Demand Planning Director will own diving deep into data, deriving insights amongst ambiguity, and presenting findings that influence business critical decisions. This role requires a strong bias for action and the ability to provide data driven insights quickly and effectively to peers and executives to deliver results. The role reports directly to the VP of Supply Chain and will focus on supporting Sales, Marketing and Product Teams.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop team members to help them achieve their career aspirations while developing a culture of excellence at Pep Boys.
  • Lead the development S&OP Demand Planning process based on facts.
  • Assume administrative position for Blue Ridge Demand Planning capabilities.
  • Ensure optimization of Resources, Process and Technology within Demand Planning function.
  • Develop Demand Planning Strategy and Governance
  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, validate sales inputs, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results for both tops down and bottoms up planning.
  • Support sales growth by achieving in-stock service level targets while optimizing inventory turns.
  • Lead a team of Demand planners to develop accurate and timely demand forecast while minimizing forecast variability and bias.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Product and Financial Planning to gather inputs to build the consensus demand plan through the S&OP and Executive S&OP process.
  • Partner with Suppliers and Product team to launch new products, promotions and achieve volume aspirations while minimizing E&O Exposure.
  • Lead Demand section of Supplier Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR).
  • Partner with the product team to update active store assortment for replenishment and demand planning.
  • Work closely with the Inventory Management team to understand and resolve known supply constraints or excess inventory risks and communicate in the S&OP demand review.
  • Establish and implement continuous improvement tools and processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience and Credentials

  • MBA, MS in Supply Chain or related field preferred.
  • BA/BS degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant business experience within Supply Chain.
  • Demand Planning experience required.
  • Analytics experience preferred.
  • Experience working with complex data sets.
  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership.
