Job Description

The Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for performing a range of activities to ensure the safety of imported and domestic foods. These include identifying and evaluating potential hazards associated with the food, verifying that suppliers have implemented adequate food safety measures, and conducting supplier verification activities such as on-site audits or testing.

Essential Role Functions:

• Verify that foreign and domestic suppliers are producing food that meets U.S safety standards per FSVP and FSMA requirements.

• Conduct hazard analysis of domestic and imported food

• Evaluating the foreign supplier’s performance and conducting supplier verification activities

• Maintaining records of the verification process

• Assist with the development and implementation of a supplier approval and monitoring process

• Ensures supplier documentation is on file and accurate to meet all FSMA and ZBI requirements.

• Manages escalated supplier complaints and works with suppliers and ZBI facilities to resolve

• Guides facilities on developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed

• Ability to critically evaluate and coach relative to quality and food safety requirements and programs

• Assist in developing company specific training relative to food safety and quality improvement requirements

• Support the administration of Quality Systems tools

Work Experience/Requirements for This Role:

• Must possess a 4-year degree in Food Science of related field

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within the food manufacturing field is required

• PCQI and HACCP Certification

• Previous experience FDA, GFSI certification, AIB or third-party audits

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Previous experience utilizing basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Navigation).

• Demonstrate high level of quantitative and analytical skills
