New York Harbor Healthcare System is hiring for a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist. This position is located at the Manhattan VA Medical Center.Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/12/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist. Specialized experience includes, serving as a senior supply chain management leader/supervisor, responsible for ensuring the logistical requirements of an organization are met; planning/coordinating and evaluating various operations to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of a logistics program. Areas of knowledge and skill should include acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations; experience with budget formulation and forecasting of expenditures. At this level, candidates should possess experience in overseeing and managing a large group with a variety of occupations and subordinate supervisors.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements:
The work is primarily sedentary; however, the position is required to participate on environment of care rounds, Internal and External Quality Reviews, and external auditor site visits. These reviews include a review of work areas including warehouse, supply
areas that require personal protective equipment such as operating room and lab, and equipment disposition areas that involve removal of hazardous waste. This may require long periods of standing, walking, and/or maneuvering around moving or otherwise hazardous equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and cart washers. Work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. May require occasional travel.
