Duties
This position is located under the Office of Field Operations, Houston Field Division, Houston IV (CGIC), located in Houston, Texas.
The primary purpose of this position is to exercise full supervisory responsibilities and authority over non-supervisory Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC) employees who conduct all source intelligence analyses to support the field division's criminal investigations and industry operations, by producing actionable strategic, operational, and tactical intelligence products and other analytical services. This position also serves as the primary division intelligence subject matter expert. The incumbent acts as the division's intelligence liaison to other internal and external partners.
Duties may include:
- Coordinates with division supervisors, and National Response Team (NRT) and Special Response Team (SRT) leaders to ensure the utilization of the CGIC to support critical incidents and enforcement actions.
- Manages intelligence efforts, investigations, strategies and technologies used to gather, process, exploit, analyze and evaluate intelligence information.
- Ensures CGIC personnel properly disseminate, disclose, or release intelligence reports, bulletins, and assessments through the proper systems and processes
- Serves as liaison with other law enforcement agency, directorates, working groups and task force intelligence leaders and professionals, and the U.S. intelligence community as the primary division intelligence subject matter expert.
- Ensures criminal intelligence information reports, reports of investigation, bulletins, assessments, and all other intelligence products submitted by subordinates meet ATF standards.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses.

To qualify for a GS-14, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13
Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized Experience is:
- Providing leadership, mentoring and guidance to the field intelligence groups related to all source intelligence analyses and;
- Directing and/or coordinating assigned special studies or projects of which may cross functional lines and may involve other government agencies and departments, or the industry and;
- Extracting, compiling, and analyzing factual raw information to be used for conducting finished Intelligence Research in support of investigative operations.
