Summary
About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces.
This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Duties
  • As a Supervisory Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation), you will:
  • Supervise assigned personnel in the office.
  • Provide technical administrative support and oversight of the organization's processing functions.
  • Coordinate between multiple sections to ensure processing is completed within standards.
  • Mange applicant files/records to include maintaining security of applicant PII and PHI
  • Provide technical administration and oversight of the processing element.
  • Make recommendations on initiatives to improve military processing functions.
  • Interview candidates to obtain and verify background information.
  • Provide training on various topics to groups and/or individuals,
  • Ensure updates/changes to regulations are communicated to subordinates.
  • Coordinate with others to ensure proper processing of applicants into military service.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security background check.
  • This position may require you to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work.
  • This position may require routine unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.
  • Position may require you to perform temporary duty (TDY) business travel occasional overnight as assigned.
  • Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Reviewing records for accuracy and completeness; Using automated systems to input and extract data; Providing training to staff on office processes and procedures; Leading a group or team to completion of a project. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
TYPING: This position requires a qualified typist with a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
If you are a current, Federal employee, you must include your pay plan, series and grade in your work experience(s) on your resume submission and/or upload supporting documentation (within-grade increase SF50) to show that you meet the time-in-grade Requirement. In addition, if your step reflects '00', you must include your current salary for each position.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
