This position is a SUPERVISORY FISH & WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST, GS- 0401-14 working in Arcata, CA for the R8-Arcata Fish and Wildlife Office.
This is a temporary promotion not to exceed 1 Year. Temporary promotion may be extended up to 5 years or may be made permanent without further competition.Qualifications: Only experience and education obtained by 01/15/2024 will be considered.
In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.
Basic Requirement:
- Successfully completed a full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline closely related to fish and wildlife biology; OR
- Possess a combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in (1) above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- Possess at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience includes: 1) managing a multi-disciplinary natural resources program and leading others to achieve defined goals; 2) serving as a senior expert advisor on issues, projects, or programs related to endangered species and Endangered Species Act Section 7 consultations, Section 10 actions (HCPs, SHAs, CCAAs) and Section 4 Classification action (listing and recovery; 3) providing technical and policy guidance to staff regarding natural resource conservation and management; 4) consulting and negotiating effectively on complex natural resource conservation and management programs, policies, and activities; 5) preparing reports, briefing materials, and position papers on natural resource conservation and management programs, policies, and activities; and 6) providing full range of supervision or leadership over a team focused on the conservation of natural resources.
Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the JOA. Specifically,
i. Area of Consideration.
ii. Time-in-grade (TIG) requirements as specified in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
iii. Time after competitive appointment as specified in 5 CFR 330.502.
iv. Qualification requirements outlined in OPM's Qualifications Standards for General Schedule Positions or for Federal Wage System (FWS), wage grade positions, applicants are evaluated using the OPM Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations and the job element examining method

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
