Position Summary:
The Volunteer Services Supervisor oversees and coordinates the volunteer program that supports the hospital's mission "to improve the health of our community and the world by setting the standard of excellence in patient care." Attract, recruit, inspire, train, supervise, and evaluate volunteers and team of Volunteer Coordinators. Develop and implement programs that utilize volunteers to enhance the patient's experience, support hospital staff, and contribute to the overall operation of the hospital.
Shift: Full-time (40 hours), Day Shift (8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), Weekend Work Not Required.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
Experience: Minimum two years of experience in volunteer management.
Required Licensure, Certification: Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Volunteer Services
  • General computer knowledge and capability to use computers.
  • Knowledge of information systems and data entry regarding volunteer and library services.
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, HIPAA regulations, and Hospital procedures applicable to volunteer management
  • Advanced interpersonal skills are necessary for effective leadership and collaboration within an interdisciplinary setting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate organizational and departmental policies and other information to all level employees and volunteers.
  • As a representative of Johns Hopkins Hospital, presents a professional and polished
  • Strong problem-resolution and interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse employee, volunteer, and patient population.
  • Ability to stimulate efficiency and effectiveness by successfully integrating objectives, opportunities, and resources.
  • Ability to train, lead, and motivate people.
  • Skilled in public presentation, negotiation/mediation, and project management.
  • Ability to plan, design, evaluate, and implement new, revised, innovative programs.
  • Ability to analyze data and synthesize information for problem-solving and decision-making.
