Supervisor Specialty Pharmacy Liaison Services

Under the direction of the System Manager, Specialty Pharmacy-Clinical, Specialty pharmacy provides complex, high dollar medication therapies to patients with serious and life threatening health conditions such as transplant, HIV, multiple sclerosis, and cancer.  These medications require special handling and intensive patient management touch-points to ensure patient medication adherence to lower overall healthcare costs and reduce readmission rates.  The Specialty Pharmacy Liaison is responsible for the intensive patient care management. 

The System-Pharmacy Supervisor-Specialty Pharmacy Liaisons is responsible for Specialty Pharmacy Liaison accountability and performance in patient care clinics or liaisons that are working remotely, driving financial growth and patient/prescription capture rates, high employee engagement, and accountability of the Specialty Pharmacy program.  Under the direction of the clinical pharmacy manager, will implement training for the Specialty Pharmacy Liaison staff to include day to day activities, and accreditation, manufacturer, and payor requirements. 

The manager will establish and maintain relationships with providers, patient care clinic leadership, including department VPs.  The manager will assist the System Director, Retail Pharmacy Services and clinical manager in implementing new Specialty Pharmacy services across the enterprise.  The supervisor will also make the system director and clinical manager aware of any new services, medications, or possible expansions for the Specialty Pharmacy program.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare or related field, or Associate’s Degree and 2+ years experience, or 5+ years in a related field
• Required 1+ year of Specialty pharmacy experience
• Required 1+ year of supervisory or lead experience
• Current pharmacy technician license in good standing in applicable state(s) to perform all job duties
• Current PTCB or ExCPT certification

Skills: 

• Have deep knowledge of specialty medication pharmacology, local/state/federal pharmacy regulations.
• Able to manage processes, exhibit strong technical and clinical skills, excellent leader and manager of people, constant focus on legal compliance, highly productive, quality focused and attention to detail.
• Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.  
• Must have the ability to identify barriers to medication adherence and implement and monitor plans to improve medication adherence.
