The Supervisor and PACS/RIS coordinator of Radiology Services provides leadership, supervision and coordinates department activities, ensuring safety to both patients and staff. Directs human resources functions of the department which includes; overseeing training and ensures staff competencies, ensures safe staffing levels. Coordinates, Develops and meets budgets with direction of the Director. Meets organizational and patient safety goals and ensures regulatory compliance. The Supervisor ensures ongoing monitoring of departmental indicators and PI activities, reports activities as directed. The Supervisor performs radiology technologist duties when needed. Provides Radiology Information System support to the Radiology department, as follows; 1) involved in the build and maintenance of RIS/PACS reference Radiology database, interface sharing components, billing, and dictionaries with direct supervision by the Radiology Director or designee, 2) in collaboration with the Radiology Director, ensures that individual tests and test panels comply with regulatory billing requirements, 3) involved in the building, validation, maintenance and monitoring of instrument and billing interfaces to ensure accuracy, 4) assists section heads in streamlining RIS/PACS processes within the Radiology, 5) involved in implementing and validating RIS/PACS system upgrades, 6) involved with the maintenance and troubleshooting of the RIS/PACS component, 7) provides customized NPR reports to Radiology management, 8) assists in facilitating any issues referred to the RIS/PACS vendor's customer/technical service, 9) provides training to Radiology staff on the use and maintenance of the RIS/PACS, 10) maintains and ensures RIS/PACS policies, procedures and processes meet accreditation requirements, 11) works with local and corporate IT departments on Radiology department projects, 12) develops appropriate project lists and work plans for project completion 13) Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the Department Director.
Education and Work Experience
- Associates Degree, Graduate of an AMA accredited program in radiologic technology preferred.
- Specialized training in any modality required.
- Supervisory experience in medical imaging functions.
- Previous experience as a radiology technologist/Nuclear Medicine/Other modalities.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- ARRT and Current NJ State license Required
- Current Basic Life Support /BCLS (AHA) certification.
- Comprehensive Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulatory standards required.
