General Summary
The Outside Plant (OSP) Supervisor manages all OSP Network activity within a deployment area. This includes managing all current and future fiber networks across a regional outlook. The OSP Supervisor works closely with the Regional Director and or Drop installation manager to ensure that OSP Network is maintained and aligns with all OSP construction standards.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Tests, supports, and repairs Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP).
- Ensures the completed network meets quality and engineering standards.
- Manages field construction changes.
- Engages in Preventative maintenance plan across Fiber network.
- Maintains regional fiber MTTR SLA/Outage times.
- Creates Plan/site Survey for Enterprise & Small Business Accounts may be required to execute Install.
- Low to High level Troubleshooting of fiber footprint.
- Responds to outages and repairs or coordinates with vendor for repair.
- Build/Repair fiber using fusion and mechanical splice techniques.
- Trains employees on how to splice and repair cut fiber.
- Maintains daily communication with Drop and install Manager/Regional Director.
- Produces quality results in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Represents Rise Broadband professionally to satisfy immediate customer needs and foster good customer relations.
- Establishes and maintain effective working relationships with project teams, other internal departments, and the public.
- Pursues personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role and those of the project team.
- Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates and terminates subordinate personnel.
- Directs subordinate personnel, and actively participates as necessary, in achievement of responsibilities and objectives.
- Works on regularly scheduled days as well as unscheduled days and/or beyond regular work hours due to customer or operational demands, as needed.
- Adheres to all Company standard procedures, policies and safety practices in the course of performing work activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Preferred of 5 years fiber experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of Telecom construction and redline process.
- Knowledge of fiber management and splicing standards.
- Proficient in mechanical and fusion splicing.
- Good understanding of telecom network topology and customer connectivity.
- Able to effectively oversee multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible, innovative, and capable of managing multiple projects and responsibilities in extreme time-critical settings.
- Results focused leadership using energetic and positive communication skills.
- Natural ability to work with all levels of management, staff, and vendors/contractors.
- Attention to detail, and decisive.
- Experience working with fiber and power companies, with an understanding of scheduling walks and dealing with meter sets.
- Road and air travel required (25% or less), valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions
- Employee remains in the sitting position for prolonged hours. Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Working conditions may include being in an open (shared) cubicle/workspace area.
- Must be able to work safely in a field or office environment. Must be adept at working in adverse weather conditions.
