Responsibilities
- Responsible for the supervision of a team of Forensic Scientists in forensic laboratory procedures and the preparation of reports of Forensic findings.
- Responsible for technical problem solving of analytical methods and for the oversight of staffing, automation, validation, training, quality assurance, safety, and proficiency testing in the laboratory.
- Responsible for continuing education programs.
- Develops and implements industry standard analytical methods and validation plans for accreditation scope extensions.
- Consults with the Director of Quality Assurance regarding laboratory quality issues and accreditation matters.
- Performs Trace Evidence and Fire Debris analyses.
- Maintains accountability of all Section equipment and instrumentation.
Qualifications
- A Master's Degree in a Natural or Physical Science, or Administration (e.g. Public Administration, Business Administration or Criminal Justice); AND
- A minimum of six (6) years satisfactory, court-qualified, casework experience in three (3) or more of the following areas of Trace Examination in an accredited laboratory: fire debris analysis, forensic unknown analysis, paint analysis, fracture match/physical fit analysis, explosives analysis, glass analysis, or impressions (footwear and tire). OR
- Eight (8) years of qualifying Trace casework experience as described above.
Compensation
Salary range $93,530 to $117,875, with benefits.
