The Supervisor, Logistics is responsible for components and finish goods optimization of conveyance to, from and between Division facilities. This position could involve procurement of international and domestic transportation (Ocean, FTL, LTL, Intermodal, Air Cargo, Parcel) as well as logistics providers such as customs brokers, consolidators, and forwarders.

This position serves our Friedrich Division, supporting the San Antonio, TX location. This is a hybrid role and you will be required to come into the office roughly 3 days/week. You must reside in a commutable distance to our San Antonio office. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

       Develop and implement procedures that ensure effective shipping, predictable transit times, and on time delivery.

       Oversee the daily operations of contract carriers, including maintaining contractor schedules, monitoring routes, reports and fostering positive working relationships with contract carriers.

       Design routes, negotiate and approve rates, audit invoices received by freight and service providers.

       Secure resources to import components and finish goods from international markets.

       React to increasing customer expectations in transportation matters.

       Maximize tools for order tracking, shipping & receiving, OS&D, Return Authorizations, issue customer credits, etc.

       Champion development and implementation of projects eliminating waste and improve equipment utilization.

       Establish processes that ensure all orders are assigned mode of transportation and carrier tender accepted.

       Enforce customs compliance and maintain active status of importer of record avoiding fees.

       Work with business partners both external (vendors, customers, corporate, carriers, auditors, etc.) and internal (purchasing, sales, order entry, warehouse, customer service, etc).

       Provide direction and support to the staff in daily operations as well as employee relations and performance management.

       Control a comprehensive expense budget to ensure proper utilization of funds for required expenditures.

       Ensure all governmental and regulatory requirements are being met.

       Provide leadership with respect to transportation best practices and methodologies.

       Promote the development and adherence of policies, procedures, and processes for controlling inventory conveyance.

       Present capital investment or human resource expansion projects with ROI analysis.

       Recruit and maintain a high-performing teams by leading and coaching with a high expectation for excellence.

       Works with the Human Resources (HR) department to ensure proper resolution to various employment policy and issues.

       Model desired behaviors, including positive sponsorship, two-way communication, championing education initiatives, and issue resolution.

       Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Bachelors Degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business or related field.
• 5 years of related experience in logistics environment with 3 in a supervisory/managerial position
• International logistics experience, including customs compliance, duties, Harmonized Tariff Codes, Import/Export
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, teamwork, proven leadership abilities, and excellent problem solving skills.
• Must possess superior planning, decision-making, use of staff service, and motivation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, to include Word and Excel.
