The Food Service Supervisor (FSS) works under the supervision of the Patient Services Manager and is responsible for the supervision of personnel in all aspects of food service (receiving, storage, food preparation, serving and sanitation for Jazzman’s Café, Tower Cafeteria, Meals on Wheels, Patient Trayline/Main Kitchen, DDR and Catering). Reports to the Patient Services Manager and functions as a liaison/communicator between the staff and the manager. The FSS ensures that HACCP is utilized at all times, that equipment is maintained properly and in optimal working condition at all times, assists with or prepares employee work schedules, assists with training, and cleanliness of kitchen/cafeteria. Evaluates employees and conducts in-service education as well as orientation for new employees. Processes payroll via Kronos. Assists with cash handling; gives change to cashiers as needed and performs safe audits per policy. May be asked to do other tasks associated with food service as the need arises such as covering open positions and covering for Patient Services Manager when absent.
Required Skills
- Possesses a working knowledge of Title 22, HACCP, safety and sanitation requirements as well as Infection Control guidelines as they apply to Food and Nutrition Services.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow and give directions.
- Ability to complete accurate documentation.
- Familiar with modified diets and trayline operations.
- Ability to work independently.
Required Experience
Required:
- Minimum two years’ experience in hospital food service
- Minimum one-year experience as a Supervisor, coordinator, or lead.
Preferred:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Serv Safe certified.
- Experience as a Food Service Supervisor.
