Job description

Novagard, a premier manufacturer of silicone-based sealants and adhesives, is seeking a committed Superintendent of Specialty Silicones to oversee the Specialty Silicones department within our cutting-edge manufacturing facility. The Superintendent of Specialty Silicones will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and top-quality production of specialty silicone products. This position requires adept leadership, technical prowess in manufacturing processes, and an unwavering dedication to safety and operational excellence.

Essential Functions:

  • Safety Leadership: Champion and uphold a culture of safety, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Production Management: Supervise daily production operations, prioritize production schedules, and liaise with scheduling to achieve production objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Provide mentorship, training, and leadership to the Specialty Silicones production team, cultivating an environment of accountability and continuous growth.
  • Quality Assurance: Guarantee that specialty silicone products meet or surpass quality benchmarks through regular inspections and strict adherence to quality assurance procedures.
  • Equipment Management: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of specialty silicone production equipment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate maintenance tasks.
  • Data Tracking: Precisely monitor and report daily production metrics, material consumption, and waste volumes utilizing appropriate systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process enhancements aimed at reducing waste and optimizing efficiency.
  • Performance Evaluation: Assess employee performance, furnish constructive feedback, and conduct performance evaluations as necessary.
  • Staffing: Collaborate with HR to address staffing requirements, including recruitment, onboarding, and disciplinary actions.
  • Policy Enforcement: Enforce adherence to company policies and procedures, promptly addressing violations in a professional manner.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing) preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of Supervisory Experience in Silicone Manufacturing
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement Concepts and Practices

Supervisory Responsibility: This position oversees all personnel within the Specialty Silicones department and is accountable for their performance management.

Work Environment: The Superintendent of Specialty Silicones will operate in a manufacturing setting and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical components. The noise level can be elevated due to machinery operations.

Physical Demands: This role may entail occasional walking, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. is required, with regular use of hands and fingers anticipated.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Full-time position with a standard schedule of Monday to Friday.

Travel: Minimal travel is anticipated for this role.
