DESCRIPTION
Carrollwood Farms has a Sitework and Grading division. This division uses equipment such as trackhoes, loaders, dozers, off-road trucks, compactors, backhoes, motor graders, and more to help develop the property.
The Sitework and Grading crew is responsible for projects including but not limited to: developing the farm program, from pasture development to building pads for barns to assisting with trenching, piping, and drainage projects. The crew also works to build roads, ponds, and other significant components of the farm infrastructure.
The Superintendent of Sitework and Grading will lead the existing team to future successes. The job requires planning, management, and organization, as well as time spent on equipment. The Superintendent will also be responsible for interfacing with outside grading contractors on contracted mass grading projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily, weekly, and monthly operational management of the sitework crew. To include assigning job duties at each job site, deciding which days of the week to operate, adhering to weekly hourly maximum workload levels while also maximizing clear grading days. As such, work schedules may not reflect a typical Monday-Friday schedule, but instead be based on weather conditions.
- Work with the Manager of Carrollwood Farms to implement initiatives from ownership
- Estimate jobs. Perform takeoffs.
- Price and purchase materials for jobs – pipe, drains, rock, etc. – as well as daily required items such as grease
- Ensure equipment is operated in a safe and proper manner and maintained to high cleanliness levels
- Ensure equipment is maintained properly, greased at least daily, fueled daily, tracks cleaned daily
- Provide working expertise to accomplish grading tasks in a highly efficient manner
- Provide advice on best working methodologies
- Provide leadership to existing team members, assist with their career growth.
- Read blueprints and ensure that plans with blueprints are executed as engineered
- Interface with other contractors – e.g., concrete crews – as needed.
- Ensure all work is done to relevant building codes, while exceeding all safety regulations
- Meet Carrollwood Farms internal code of work quality
- Oversight, maintenance, and inventory of property tools and equipment
REQUIREMENTS
- 10-15 years experience in a similar role
- A “no job is too small mindset”
- A willingness to work across other departments as needed
- A deep desire to be an effective leader and help grow both a team and a company
- A drive to find efficiencies and be maximally productive
- Deep knowledge of grading and sitework equipment including but not limited to dozers, excavators, compactors, trucks, loaders, motor graders, tractors, and more
- Knowledge of maintaining construction equipment, particularly large scale diesel equipment including but not limited to CAT and John Deere
- Knowledge of best management practices of large- and small-scale Sitework and Grading jobs
- Interest in being part of a dynamic team and operation, an organization set for dynamic growth
